Terms

Last updated 31 October 2026.

OOP Jobs is a job board for software developers in South Africa, run by Kartlani (Pty) Ltd, trading as OOP Jobs ("OOP Jobs", "we", "us"). These terms apply to everyone who uses oopjobs.com, whether you browse roles, sign up for the Monday email, or post a listing.

By using the site you agree to these terms. If you post a listing, you also agree to the listing standard below.

1. Who we are

  • Legal name: Kartlani (Pty) Ltd, trading as OOP Jobs
  • Registration number: 2026/531252/07
  • Email: hello@oopjobs.com
  • Website: https://oopjobs.com

OOP Jobs is not VAT registered and does not charge VAT.

2. For developers

Browsing and applying is free. You don't need an account, and we never ask for a CV.

When you apply for a role, you leave our site and go straight to the employer's application page or email address. We don't sit in between, we don't see your application, and we're not party to anything that happens after you leave. The employer is responsible for how it handles your application and your personal information from that point.

The Monday email is optional. Sign up with your email address, confirm it from the link we send, and you'll get the new roles once a week. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. We send nothing else.

The roles.json and roles.rss feeds are free to use for personal, non-commercial purposes. If you want to republish listings commercially or at scale, ask us first.

The game

The site has a small game with a public leaderboard. It's for fun; there are no prizes. If you save a score, the name you pick is shown publicly, so pick one you're happy with. Don't use a name that's offensive, that impersonates someone else, or that advertises anything. We can rename or remove any entry, and we may reset or retire the game at any time. Verifying your name by email is optional; how we handle that address is in the Privacy Policy.

3. For employers and recruiters

3.1 Your account

Your account is made when you post your first role. It's tied to your email address, and that's how you sign in: we email you a link that works once and expires in 15 minutes. There's no password.

Keep access to that inbox, and keep it to yourself. Anyone with access to it can sign in as you. If you think someone else has used your account, change your sign-in email from the Account page or contact us straight away.

Sessions last 30 days. We may sign you out earlier for security reasons.

Recruiters can post for more than one hiring company from one account. The agency goes on the account; the hiring company goes on each listing.

3.2 The listing standard

Every listing must have:

  1. A salary range, as a monthly cost-to-company figure in ZAR or another stated currency. A range is fine; "market related", "competitive" or "negotiable" on its own is not.
  2. A location that means what it says. The city, plus one of: on site, hybrid (with the number of days), remote within South Africa, or remote from anywhere.
  3. A named company, or a reason it isn't named. If you're posting for a confidential client, say so and give the reason. The reason is published with the listing.

Listings that don't meet the standard are not published, and the payment is refunded in full.

3.3 What you may not post

You may not post a listing that:

  • is misleading about the role, the salary, the location, the arrangement or the employer;
  • discriminates unfairly on any ground listed in the Employment Equity Act, 1998, or the Constitution, including race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, family responsibility, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, HIV status, conscience, belief, political opinion, culture, language or birth. Affirmative action measures permitted by the Act are allowed if stated as such;
  • requires applicants to pay a fee, buy training or make any other payment to apply or be considered;
  • is for anything other than a genuine, open software development role (including internships and contract roles). Pyramid schemes, commission-only "opportunities", and listings used to harvest contact details are not allowed;
  • links to a page that collects personal information unlawfully or installs software;
  • infringes anyone's rights, including by using a company name or logo you're not entitled to use.

3.4 What we can do

We can refuse, edit for format, take down or close any listing that breaks these terms or the listing standard, at any time, with or without notice. A listing taken down for breaking section 3.3 is not refunded. A listing we refuse before it goes live is refunded in full.

We can also close an account that repeatedly breaks these terms.

3.5 Your responsibilities

You're responsible for the content of your listings and for everything that happens to applicants after they leave our site. You confirm that you're authorised to post on behalf of the hiring company, that the role is genuine and open, and that the salary range is one the company is actually prepared to pay.

By posting, you give us permission to display the listing on the site, in the Monday email and in our feeds, and to let third parties republish it through the feeds while it's live. You keep ownership of your content.

4. Pricing and payment

  • One listing runs for 30 days at the price shown on the Post a role page when you pay. Launch pricing, when shown, applies to listings paid for during the launch period only.
  • The 30 days start when the listing goes live, not when you pay.
  • Prices are in South African rand. No VAT is charged because OOP Jobs is not VAT registered. Our invoices are therefore not tax invoices.
  • Pay by card or by EFT. Card payments are handled by a third-party payment processor; we never see or store your card number. EFT payments must use the reference we give you. A listing paid by EFT goes live when the payment clears, usually within one business day.
  • An invoice is emailed to you for every payment and is available from your dashboard.
  • Reposting a closed or expiring listing is a new 30-day listing at the current price.

5. Refunds

  • A listing that doesn't meet the listing standard, or that we refuse before it goes live, is refunded in full.
  • A listing you choose not to publish after paying (for example, you close it from your dashboard before it goes live) is refunded in full.
  • A listing that has gone live is not refunded, whether you fill the role, close it early or take it down yourself.
  • A listing we take down for breaking section 3.3 is not refunded.
  • Refunds go back to the card or bank account the payment came from and usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days.

Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, where it applies to you.

6. Editing, closing and expiry

You can edit a live listing from your dashboard at any time. Changes show on the board straight away, but an edit that takes a listing below the standard can result in it being taken down.

A listing closes automatically after 30 days. You can close it earlier from your dashboard. We email you three days before it closes.

Closed listings stay in your dashboard for a year so you can repost them in one click. After a year they're deleted.

7. Views and apply clicks

Your dashboard shows how many times each listing was viewed and how many people clicked through to your application page. These counts don't identify anyone, and we don't know who applied or what happened next. The numbers are a guide, not a guarantee of applicants.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the site running, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free. If the site is down for a continuous period of more than 24 hours while your listing is live, email us and we'll extend the listing by the time lost.

9. Our liability

We're a notice board. We don't vet candidates or employers beyond the listing standard, and we're not party to any application, interview, offer or employment contract.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for any loss arising from a listing, an application, or your use of the site, and our total liability to you for anything connected with these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't be excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.

10. Your content and our content

The site, its design, its name and its mark are ours. Listings belong to the people who post them. You may not scrape, copy or republish the board other than through the feeds we provide, and only on the terms in section 2.

11. Privacy

How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. It forms part of these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll email account holders at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the new terms. A listing that's already live when the terms change stays on the terms it was posted under until it closes.

13. Ending your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing hello@oopjobs.com. Live listings close when the account closes and are not refunded. We keep invoices for as long as tax law requires (see the Privacy Policy).

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. If something goes wrong, email us first and we'll try to sort it out within 10 business days. If we can't, the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction.
